Fabric Stores

Eddie's Quilting Bee features a large selection of cotton fabrics for quilting. The selection goes way beyond calicos and includes many cool Hawaiian prints. Eddie's Quilting Bee also offers classes in quilting. Eddie's Quilting Bee, 264 Castro St Mountain View, CA (650) 969-1714.
Lacis is a one-of-a-kind lace store selling all kinds of lacemaking supplies and antique lace. It is very close to Stone Mountain and Daughter and Straw Into Gold. Lacis, 3163 Adeline St., Berkeley, CA 94703 (510) 843-7178.
Poppy Fabrics has a high concentration of great fabrics. While the store isn't large, it has a great selection. Some highlights are the home decorating fabrics, special formal wear fabrics, and excellent trim selection (feathers!). Poppy Fabrics, 5151 Broadway, Oakland, CA (510) 655-5151.
Stone Mountain and Daughter is an excellent source for natural fiber fabrics (wools, linens, cottons, silks, rayon*, etc.). The cotton print section is one of my favorites. This store also has a large selection of ethnic motif fabrics (African, Guatelmalan, and Japanese). The store also offers sewing classes. * Rayon is a man-made fiber made from wood by-products. Many consider it to be a natural fabric.
